Walk: varied across woods, fields, roads and hills. Some steps and kissing gates but no stiles. Muddy in places if wet.
Directions: A49 out of Warrington to the Oakmere crossroads. Right onto the A556 to Chester, then keep right onto the A54 to Chester. At the lights turn left onto Chester Rd (signposted Kelsall), 2nd left into Quarry Lane, left into Willington Rd, left into Boothsdale and the Boot Inn is ahead.
Distance : Approx 30mins from Stockton Heath.

"Meet : The Poachers Inn, 95 Ingersley Rd, Bollington, SK10 5RE. OS Map 268 942 779. Public toilets on walk.
Walk : Grit paths, fields, farm tracks, roads and flights of steps.
Directions : A50 from Warrington to Knutsford, at traffic lights in Knutsford go left on A537 [Chelford + Macclesfield] past railway station. Continue on A537 to huge roundabout in Macclesfield town centre with traffic lights, keep in left hand lane to go left onto the Silk Rd, A523. Continue on A523, to 2nd roundabout then turn right onto B5090 for Bollington, continue on for approx. 2 miles through the town until you come to mini roundabout, go straight across roundabout then immediate right by a large bus stop/lay by into Ingersley Rd. Continue for approx. ¼ mile to pub on right, car park just after pub.
Distance : approx. 23 miles from junc. 20 M6, allow 50 – 60 mins. "

Walk : moderately challenging sections especially if wet underfoot. Trekking pole(s) recommended!
Directions : Approx 15 minutes/11 miles from the M56 roundabout at Stretton. Take A49 south Tarporley/Whitchurch direction. Continue on thro Acton Bridge and Cuddington. At major junction with A556 (large Shell petrol station on left) go LEFT at lights. Continue to next set of lights and turn RIGHT for Whitegate (Dalefords Lane). After approx 2 mls, The Plough pub is signed off to your left (Beauty Bank).

Walk: This is a flat, easy walk but please note that there are 20 stiles.
Directions: From Stretton traffic island follow A49 south for 12.5 miles. Turn left along Coach Road signed Little Budworth and Oulton Park. Follow this road to the gates of Oulton Park and then continue to the left into the village. The pub is on the right opposite the church. N.B. The car park is not very big so it may be a good idea to car share where possible.

Directions fro North : From Bridge Foot, Warrington, take the A5060 in direction of Walton and Chester. After approx. 1 mile, The Stag is on the left.
Directions fro South : From Stockton Heath take the A56 (Walton Road) in direction of Chester. At the grass triangle turn right and the pub is facing you.
Directions from Daresbury : Continue towards Warrington on A56 passing through the lights at the Walton Arms. As the dual carriageway ends, the road turns sharp left and the Stag is then on the immediate right.

Walk : Taking in canals, fields and woods around Lymm. Fairly flat, one long set of steps down. NB – Some of the field edge paths are very uneven with holes and edges hidden by vegetation. Also 4 or 5 stiles, some of which are “challenging”! A stick and stout footwear with ankle support are recommended.
Directions : From Warrington town centre go through Lymm on Higher Lane, turn left at Broomedge traffic lights, (Burford Lane) for about a mile, turn right at bottom of road, just before road swings left. Pub is on left 200 yds.
From Warburton bridge turn right at main road then 1st left (Mill Lane) for about a mile, pass under canal bridge and take next left to pub in 200yds.

Directions : From junction 10 M56 roundabout at Stretton take M56 west going towards Chester. Leave motorway at Junction 12 (signposted Frodsham / Runcorn &Airport / Widnes / A557 ). At sliproad roundabout take 1st exit ( signposted Frodsham A557 (A56) ) follow road to traffic lights at Sutton Weaver swingbridge, turn right over bridge towards Frodsham (Signposted Frodsham / Helsby A56) . Follow this road for 2.2 miles, after leaving Frodsham turn left onto B5393 Tarvin Road (signposted Alvanley/Manley /Tarvin B5393). Follow this road for 4.6 miles and pub is on the right opposite Mouldsworth Station.
Distance : 13.6 miles ( 20 mins) from junction 10 M56 (Stretton).

Meet : 10:00-10:15, Ness Gardens Car Park, Neston Road, Neston  CH64 4AY. Toilets and order lunch before walk.  As you enter the car park, head for the left end. Note slightly earlier meet time - neither the leaders nor the cafe have organised a walk before! Please share cars where possible.
Walk : Begins along the Dee Estuary, and then up, slight uphill, to the Wirral Way.  Mainly hard surface or road, but there are a couple of grassy parts that will be muddy if it rains.  2 sets of steps and 2 stiles.
Directions : From Warrington take the M56 West to its end, junction with A540.  From here Ness Gardens is well signposted. Approx 45 minutes

Meet : The Wizard, Macclesfield Road, Nether Alderley, Cheshire, SK10 4UB. Toilets available at adjacent NT car park. Order meals before walk.
Walk : Only 5 miles but a moderately strenuous walk around the ups and downs of Alderley Edge. Only a few stiles. Mostly under trees so will be relatively cool and shady. Can be shortened if too hot.
Directions : From junction of M6 and M56 take the M56 towards Manchester. Turn off at junction 6 and head towards Wilmslow. At the lights in the centre of Wilmslow turn right onto the B5086 towards Alderley Edge. In 600m at the roundabout follow the signs for the A34 to Congleton and in a further 600m cross over the roundabout and continue into Alderley Edge village. At the far end of the village take the road on the left signposted Over Alderley (the De Trafford Arms is on the right). Follow the road uphill for 2 miles to the Wizard on the left hand side. The car park is round the back down a short lane just after the pub.
Distance : 19 miles from M6/M56 junction.

Walk : Easy, using woodland paths, surfaced tracks and canal towpath.
Directions : From Warrington take A49 up London Road, Stockton Heath to Stretton Island. Exit onto A559 Northwich and follow road for approx 5 miles. Turn right onto Ollershaw Lane (B5075), over narrow bridge and pub is on right.

Meet : Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre, the Esplanade, Off Cambridge Road, Waterloo, Merseyside. L22 1RR. Grid Ref: N 97500 W 31750
Walk : Sefton Coastal Path. See Anthony Gormley’s Iron Men. Waterloo to Hightown returning by train for the short journey back. Single ticket £3.00. With Rail Card £2.00. Flat coastal path. Steep flight of steps at both stations.
Route: M62 from J9 at Winwick come off at J6. Take the 5th exit at roundabout onto M57 till end. Then take A5036 towards The Docks. Follow the brown signs to the Waterfront until you see a sign for Crosby on the right at a roundabout and ignore the last waterfront sign which turns left. At the next traffic lights turn Left at the sign ‘Anthony Gormley’s Another Place. This is Cambridge Road follow it straight down towards the Marine Lake go past the ML car park on the left. The road bears to the right, The Lakeside Adventure Centre is on the Left. Toilets and ample parking.
Distance : 24 miles from J9 Winwick. Travel time approx. 30mins

Walk : Mostly level paths with a little road walking. No stiles.
Directions : From Warrington drive through Stockton Heath and continue along London Road (A49). At the Stretton roundabout take the A559 (3rd exit if you count the one to the Stretton Fox), Just before reaching Great Budworth you will pass Cransley School on the left. The Cock Inn is on your right, but you need to turn into Cock Lane to access the car park.

Walk : Some road walking but mostly fields some of which can be strenuous in places either up or down hill. Breathtaking views across Lancashire and Merseyside. 8 stiles a couple of which are challenging.
Directions: Leave the M6 North at junction 27, take first exit onto the A5209 signposted Parbold, travel 3 miles and turn right into Mill Lane,Parbold. Pub is on the left just before the canal and railway bridge.

Walk : Picturesque walk along Pickmere Lake, then through the lovely quaint village of Great Budworth. Walk down country lanes, past farmlands and across fields (3 stiles) Nice views. Easy.
Directions : M6 to Junction 19. Take A556 exit to Northwich/Knutsford. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Chester Rd/A556 then turn immediate right at The Windmill Pub onto the B5391 signposted Pickmere. The Red Lion is approx: 2 ¼ miles on the right.

Walk : An easy walk through woods and along the beautiful beach at Formby. Lots of wildlife to see such as wading birds and maybe a red squirrel if you’re lucky!
Directions: M6 north then M62 to Liverpool. At Junction 6 take M57 to Southport for 9.7 miles. Use the 2 left lanes to turn slightly left to Dunnings Bridge A5036. Turn right onto Copy Lane (A5207 2.5 miles) then right onto Park View A565. At roundabout take 1st exit onto B5424 (Liverpool Rd). At roundabout take 1st exit onto Raven Moels Lane. Turn right into Kings Rd. At roundabout take 1st exit onto Formby Bridge. Continue onto Kirklake Road. Turn right into Woodlands Rd. Continue onto Harrington Rd then left onto Wicks Green. 50 mins from Junction 21 M6

Walk : Gentle walk around the Dingle, Grappenhall Heys and Appleton.
Directions : From the M56. Leave at junction10 and head towards Warrington. At the first set of lights turn right into Stretton Lane (opposite the Cat & Lion). in 1 mile go straight ahead through the roundabout and continue until you reach the Thorn Inn on the left.
From Warrington. Take the A49 south passing through Stockton Heath. Continue for a further 2 miles until you reach Stretton and a set of lights with the Cat & Lion pub on the right. Turn left at these lights. In 1 mile go straight ahead through the roundabout and continue until you reach the Thorn Inn on the left.
Distance : 3 miles from M56 junction 10, 7 miles from centre of Warrington.

Walk : Terrain rough in parts, some steep bits. Muddy areas in wood. 3 stiles, paths, country lanes, tracks. Animals unlikely. Eat at Rivington Tearooms after walk. Full meals and light snacks.
Directions : Find your way to A6 at Westhoughton, (A580 E.Lancs Leigh turnoff, A579 Atherleigh Way, B5235 Lover’s Lane,A58, A6.) Turn L. on to A6 towards Chorley, continue to Rivington Grill traffic lights. Turn R. to junction (Crown Hotel opposite). Turn L. then immediately R. into Lever Park Avenue between stone pillars. Follow road to Great House Barn BL6 7SB. Toilets here if required. Continue 1/4 mile towards Rivington. Park in woods on right before village.
M6 to junc.27 on via Standish. M62 East, M61 West to junction 6 Horwich.
Distance : Takes 45-60 mins.

Note : The Crown Hotel mentioned on the walksheet is unrecognisable as such at present, as it is covered in scaffolding, so look for that instead. As from today, all 3 suggested routes have roadworks on them, so please leave plenty of time!

Directions : From Junction 10 M56 take A49 going south for 5.9 miles until you reach the roundabout at Weaverham. Stay on the A49 (2nd exit) and follow the road for a further 2.4 miles until you reach the traffic lights at the main Chester road (A556 - Shell petrol station on left) Turn left onto A556 then in 0.7 miles at traffic lights turn right ( Dalesford Lane) Follow this road for 2 miles then turn left into Beauty Bank - pub is on left in about 200 yds

Walk : Easy, no stiles but 40 steps! Picturesque/Historical Hale Village, along the River Mersey paths, nice views.
Directions : M62 – Junc 6. At roundabout take 2nd exit A5300. At next roundabout take 3rd exit A562 (keep in left hand lane) and bear left. Take immediate left, signposted HALE into Higher Road, then turn right into Ramsbrook Lane (past Ramsbrook Farm) at the village, turn left into High Street and The Childe of Hale is near the war memorial and park.
Distance : Journey time approx. 30mins from M62.
