Walk : Mainly Cheshire fields, back lanes, and a short bit of main road walking. May be livestock (cattle or horses). 6 Stiles (one awkward); one fairly steep incline. Good views on a clear day. Will be muddy if wet beforehand .
Directions: 9 mile ( 18 mins) from junction 10 M56. From Junction 10 M56 take A49 going south for 4.6 miles until you cross the swing bridge over the River Weaver. Take the next right (Acton Lane ) and follow the road (bear right onto Strawberry lane then immediate left onto Hill top road) for 1 mile until you reach the junction with the B5153 ( Station Road) . Here the Hazel Pear pub is on your right. At this road junction turn right over the railway bridge and follow the B5153 for 3.3 miles to Kingsley. As you come through the village the Horseshoe pub is on the left about 200 yards after the Coop.

Walk : Mostly easy with some climbs and steps near the end. No stiles. A pretty walk through woodland and along the riverbank, spring flowers should be bloomin’ lovely but no promises!
Directions:- 16 miles/20 mins from M6, J20. Take M6 to J19, take A556 from roundabout towards Northwich/Chester (3rd exit). Follow A556 for about 8miles, until you cross a large blue bridge over the river. Turn right at the next traffic lights (400yds) and the Hotel is on the right shortly. Please drive through the top car parks and go under the archway to the lower car park.

|Miles: 5.5 miles for “B” walkers & approx. 4 miles for “C” walkers as there will be a short cut back to the pub for those who are less energetic which would be suitable for “C” walkers.
Meet: Bears Head, Newcastle Road South, Brereton, Sandbach, CW11 1RS. Toilets & pre-order lunch if required.
Walk: The walk is approximately 5.5 miles. From the Bear’s Head we will take a gentle walk past Brereton Hall to Brereton Heath Nature Reserve. The Brimstone Trail will take us on a circular route around the Heath and water filled quarry to the Visitor Centre. The Visitor Centre has excellent toilets and a room to shelter but no catering facilities so bring your flask and biscuits for a short pit stop. The rest of the walk takes us on footpaths and bridle paths to Smethwick Green and then on a country lane back to the Bear’s Head.
Directions: Take the M6 south to Junction 18. Take A54 to Holmes Chapel (1.3miles). Turn right onto A50, London Road for 1.8miles and Bears Head is on left. It’s 21 miles from Warrington and takes about 40 mins if no traffic.

Directions: From Warrington Bridgefoot take Chester Road A5060 then on to A56 Walton Daresbury towards junction 11 of M56. Keep on A56 for Preston brook and Frodsham passing Beefeater on right. Turn left for Frodsham before the BIG roundabout. Go under the railway bridge then take a track on the left. Follow through to the car park on the left. You may have to double park. 7.4 miles from Bridgefoot.

Directions : From the M56. Leave at junction10 and head towards Warrington. At the first set of lights turn right into Stretton Lane (opposite the Cat & Lion). in 1 mile go straight ahead through the roundabout and continue until you reach the Thorn Inn on the left.
From Warrington. Take the A49 south passing through Stockton Heath. Continue for a further 2 miles until you reach Stretton and a set of lights with the Cat & Lion pub on the right. Turn left at these lights. In 1 mile go straight ahead through the roundabout and continue until you reach the Thorn Inn on the left.
Distance : 3 miles from M56 junction 10, 7 miles from centre of Warrington.

Turn L. then immediately R. into Lever Park Avenue between stone pillars. Follow road past school to Great House Barn on L. Toilets here if required. Continue 1/4 mile towards Rivington. Park in woods on R. before village.

Walk : A challenging moorland walk past 5 reservoirs and with lovely views. There are several v steep climbs and descents, bogs, fields, woodland tracks and overgrown paths. Approx. 10 stiles.
Directions : East on M62 to junction 21 Milnrow Interchange, keep left and follow signs for Milnrow/Shaw/A640. At roundabout take 2nd exit onto A6193 then take 1st exit at next roundabout onto Sir Isaac Newton Way/A6193.At next roundabout take 2nd exit onto A640 for 0.6 of a mile then turn left onto Huddersfield Rd/A640. Continue for approx. 1 mile then turn left onto Ogden Lane just after Piethorne Valley camp site on the left, continue for ½ mile to junction, then go right onto Lane Bottom to the pub on the left, car park opposite. Directions From Bridge Foot 3 miles Follow Knutsford Road (A5061/ A50) through Latchford, cross over swing bridge continue along Knutsford Road to the traffic lights where the Springbrook pub in on left hand side . Go straight across lights then take the first right into Bellhouse Lane,. Follow this road, cross over hump back bridge onto Church lane (cobbled) , pub is on the right 100 yards past the church.
From M6 Junction 20 ( Woolston) 5miles Take M6 south cross Thelwall viaduct the exit motorway at Lymm ( junction 19) turn right at roundabout go straight on at next roundabout ( traffic lights) following signs for A50 Warrington. In 100 yards at roundabout take 2nd exit ( A50) . Follow A50 for approximately 1.3 miles cross over bridge then take first left Bellhouse Lane. Follow this road, cross over hump back bridge onto Church lane (cobbled), pub is on the right 100 yards past the church.

Directions: Take M56 towards Chester, continue to end. Continue on A494 for short distance, turn right on A540. Continue through Heswall, following signs for Hoylake and West Kirby. In centre of West Kirby turn left into Dee Lane. Continue towards
Morrisons car park, turn left then immediate right into Pay and Display car park.

Walk: From interesting Ringley village, around Clifton Country Park, the site of Wet Earth Colliery, and along the Irwell Valley. Mostly good paths with one steep section that may be slippery.
Directions: From Winwick about 16 miles, 30 mins. Take M62 towards Manchester, at Junction 12 turn Left (M60 North/M62 Leeds). At Junction 15 take M61/A666 and follow A666 to turn off at Junction 3 (Kearsley). Turn Right at the roundabout A667 then at the first Traffic Lights turn left A667 at the White House Pub. Follow the road and immediately after the bridge across the River Irwell take the first right turn into Fold Road at the sign “Giants Seat”. Pub is on the left, with a small car park, or you can park on the road.

Walk : We will then drive 2 miles to the free car park adjacent to Delamere Forest enabling us to walk the wide range of paths and tracks throughout the forest. No stiles, cows, horses but some aquatic bird life for the twitchers. Fairly dry underfoot.
Directions : Follow A49 south out of Warrington crossing junction 10 of the M56. Continue for 8 miles on the A49 until you meet the major crossroads with the A556. Turn right and continue for 1.5 miles on the A556 until you pass the Vale Royal Abbey Arms on the left. Immediately turn left into Abbey Lane and the car park entrance is on the left.

The Childe of Hale is on the right near the war memorial .

Directions : From junction 10 ( Stretton) M56.( 14 miles – 31 mins) . Take A49 Tarporley Road going south and follow it for approximately 8.6 miles until you come to the traffic lights at Blakemere. (There should be a petrol station on your left hand side). Turn right at the lights onto the A556 /Chester Road. Follow this road for approximately 4 miles (Where it becomes the A54 keep straight on). After you pass the Gesty Waste car park on the left hand at Delamare the road widen and become a dual carriageway. At the traffic lights at Kelsall ( Morreys Nursery should be on the right hand side) turn left into Chester Road . Keep straight on and follow this road for about a mile. The Lord Binning is on the left hand side. (The last intersection should be Old Coach Road on your right. If you reach Hollands lane you have gone too far)

Walk : although easy/moderate there are approximately 6 stiles to negotiate and the walk includes fields, bridle paths and country. Shortcuts are available for those ‘C’ walkers who wish to join us.
Directions : Take the M6 south and come off at Junction 19 (Knutsford) taking the A556 Chester Road. At the 2nd set of traffic lights, turn left into Plumley Moor Road (The Smoker Inn). The Plantation is on the left after Plumley Railway Station, The Golden Pheasant, and the bridge over the M6. If you get to the T junction at the end you’ve gone too far.
Route : We will take a circular walk around Peover Inferior taking in Lower Peover Hall, The Tree of Imagination, a hidden mill pond, beautiful thatched cottages, plastic sheep, a Naturist Campsite, a famous pub and a beautiful church before heading back to the Plantation,
Distance : Google maps advise it is 14.3miles and takes 35minutes from Warrington Centre

Directions : M6 - M62 Liverpool. Take exit J6 to M57 Southport. At end of M57 keep in centre lane (A5758) and continue onto Brooms Cross Rd (A5758). At roundabout take first exit onto A565 (Southport Rd). At traffic lights turn left into Green Lane. Pub is on the left.
Distance : 27mls. 30 mins from J21 M6.
